PRESS RELEASE
DATE: 17th NOVEMBER 2012
TITLE: “Never Again” – March called for Savita in Dublin this Saturday.
A march and candlelight vigil will take place in Dublin at 4pm on Saturday, 17th November in response to the tragic death of Savita Halappanavar. People are invited to respectfully honour the memory of Savita and to demand publicly, and together, that enough is enough. Never again should a woman die in these circumstances.
Ms. Halappanavar, a 31-year-old dentist from Belgaum, India, was in the prime of her life, excited to be starting a family with her husband, Praveen. She will be missed by family and friends who have sent a clear message to the people of Ireland: this should never happen again.
Saturday's march will commence at 4pm in the Garden of Remembrance in Parnell Square. Those assembled will arrive at the Dáil via Molesworth Street at 5pm, where candles will be lit in remembrance of Savita Halappanavar in solidarity with the candlelight vigil happening in Galway, where she lived and died. Attendees are encouraged to bring candles.
Women in Ireland deserve better. Never again should this happen.
